Wilhelmina Delo Elementary School, a proud part of the Pflugerville Independent School District, is named in honor of The Honorable Wilhelmina Delco.
Mrs. Delco's legacy is one of remarkable service and leadership. In 1974, she made history by being elected to the Texas State Legislature, where she served with distinction as a state Representative for 20 years. Her commitment to public service and education continues through her role as vice chair of the Board of Trustees at Huston-Tillotson University and as a member of the Texas Council for the Humanities.
At the school’s dedication ceremony, surrounded by family, friends, and esteemed colleagues, Mrs. Delco delivered a memorable and inspiring speech. She shared her wisdom for future generations of students, using the letters of her name to spell out core values that define the spirit of the school: Discipline, Education, Learning and Love, Creativity and Caring, and Opportunity. These principles guide the mission of Wilhelmina Delo Elementary, fostering a nurturing and empowering environment where every student can thrive.
